City of South St. Paul
responds to cyberattack

The City of South St. Paul was one of 30 communities in Minnesota affected by a cyberattack in late July that targeted operational technology that controls city water systems. The City responded quickly and issued a statement to reassure residents that drinking water remains safe and that water and wastewater services are fully operational. The investigation was still active as of press time and city staff are working with the city’s technology partners and state and federal agencies as part of the ongoing response process. Updates will be provided when more information is available. The Minnesota Department of Health is also monitoring the affected water systems.
